Our Motto

Nothing we do is so important that it cannot be done safely.

At Lancer Scott we believe that the well-being of our people and the future long-term success of our company are inexorably linked. We look after our people so that they in turn can look after the business.

Lancer Scott commit a considerable but proportionate resource to managing health, safety, and wellbeing across the company’s activities. For us it’s about having health and safety as a true value and not just a priority amongst other priorities.

Beyond the traditional field of health and safety, Lancer Scott commit to addressing the very serious implications of mental health across our industry. We have invested in mental health first aid, undertake open discussion of the issue in our company induction and regularly cover the subject in our monthly H&S campaigns.

To uphold our health and safety standards, Lancer Scott focus on four key areas; the four ‘C’s of a positive health and safety culture.

  • Competence

We maintain minimum training standards across our management and site teams based upon nationally recognised standards such as IOSH, NEBOSH, NVQ, CITB, CSCS, JIB/ECS, GasSafe, CISRS, CPCS, UKATA, IPAF and PASMA. Alongside the formal training detailed above, the company operates internal training for all employees and subcontractors in the subjects of Behavioural Safety, Working at Height, H&S Awareness, Temporary Works and Fire Safety. As a company we hold a multitude of H&S accreditations including; Acclaim, ACDC Gold, Achilles, Avetta, CHAS, Constructionline Gold, SafeContractor, and have memberships with GasSafe, NICEIC, FIRAS, Refcom, Institution of Fire Engineers, and CWCT.

  • Cooperation

Monthly senior leaders H&S meetings take place where the synergies of cooperation are fully realised. Post contract reviews are discussed alongside respective evaluations of our supply chain to ensure that we get the best going forward. Safety tours are a key activity of the senior team bringing with them the tangible benefits of shared information. Lancer Scott operates with a very flat structure whereby no members of the team are beyond approach.

  • Control

Responsibilities for all team members at every level across the company are clearly defined, understood and managed. All sites are resourced with SMSTS qualified, experienced Site Managers. All subcontractors are assessed by our in-house team of H&S practitioners both before they are awarded works and again annually. All sites are subject to regular in-house and external HS&E audits.

  • Communication

Lancer Scott prides itself in having an open and honest approach to health and safety where real discussion is encouraged and welcomed with no subject being taboo. We openly publish a H&S performance dashboard monthly, operate a monthly interactive H&S campaign and undertake a bi-annual anonymous H&S survey.

  • Compliance & Accreditation

Compliance is core to Lancer Scott’s continued success and development. Recognising that good quality and environmental standards go hand-in-hand with those for Health and Safety, Lancer Scott also holds ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO45001:2018 accreditations underlining our robust systems and environmental policies and practices.
